The last time I flashed back a database was during a maintenance window when a DBA accidentally made a mistake: And I was that DBA.
Could I have gone for the backup tapes? Sure. Of course the maintenance window would have had to have been extended by an hour rather than seconds. Could I have used log miner? Yes. But still the maintenance windows would have closed long before I was done with the recovery.
A bit of insurance was worth it: Well worth it. And in a SarbOx world the small performance hit is well worth the price of admission.
