Oracle 9i Streams performance

Hi,

We are looking to implement a streams based replication environment with transformations.

The platform is as follows:

select * from v$version;

Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.6.0 - 64bit Production PL/SQL Release 9.2.0.6.0 - Production
CORE 9.2.0.6.0 Production
TNS for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 9.2.0.6.0 - Production NLSRTL Version 9.2.0.6.0 - Production

I have done some prototyping using a couple of (admittedly underpowered) virtual machine installations, and we are seeing *very* high latency (upwards of 10 mins to replicate one insert)

My sense of streams is that they are designed to provide high speed near time replication. Does anyone have any comment?
