Not sure which part of the posts upstream you don't understand,

  1. Datafiles are OS dependant.
  2. You can copy datafiles across ONLY if you know that OS and Oracle versions are identical.
  3. If you are not sure then do the full export/import. It's not a difficult process... really.

It seems like you want someone in this NG to give blessings to your adventure.

Take Frank's advise. If you are asking about these things... then you should not be administering the move.
