I suspect within a version or two, you will have no choice about having to install OEM (you're almost there now). There are a large number of interactions between DB 10g and EM 10g already, and I think that's only going up. There are a number of interesting new capabilities, including the spotlight idea and snapshots that can be played back later.

Probably would be worth your time to watch the screen cam tutorials on OTN under OEM section. Especially the AWR, ADDM and AMM areas under Performance management.

If it weren't for the multi-platform requirement, with it's improvements OEM is certainly the prime contender in my mind. FOr multi-platform ... unless something has changed significantly, OEM does have a small ability to interact with other databases - haven't needed to use that since I stopped working with SQL Server.

However, no-one says you can't have two management tools - even if you pay for one of them. <g>
