Do you have any previous DBA administration experience on any other databases? Sorry SQL Server may not count for much here.

Try www.amazon.com search for books with "oracle".

Buy both books by Thom Kyte. Read the first several chapters of one on one. Then read the first several chapters again. Read both books several times.

Don't even think about the software part until you have done some serious reading and thinking.

Then maybe Oracle 9i for dummies might be a good start.
