Hmm - you are on 8.1.7.4 right ? The dbms_logmnr packages should be there but usage was a little different in 8i. Make sure you are logged on as sys or connected internally. Basically you will need dump the data dictionary of the database you are analysing, then start your own instance of the database to mine the redo logs you want. Do you have the 8.1.7 doc (they are no longer online on OTN) ?
