I uninstalled the 10g using the Oracle's own installer and deleted the Oracle directory. I have not deleted anything in the registry because that is what the Oracle installer should do during the uninstall. Anyway it seems like that the 10g installer has this peculiar behavior. I have decided against installing 10g on this machine.
I repeat my question one last time, hoping that someone in the know can answer. In the Windows 2000 network property dialog box my machine and domain name have not changed at all. Why is Oracle 10g installer picks up the temporary name and domain names assigned by the ISP for my DSL session to use in the configuration of various services ?
