Did you just re-install or:
uninstall, search and destroy left over files, clean out the registry, check 'host' and 'network' files before reinstalling.
Just reinstalling does not seem to re-set the registry values. Write down the offending names and after you think you have everything removed, search the registry for the offending names.
During install, don't use machine names, use your local made up IP address instead of the host name.
The only DHCP in my house is the DSL modem and the single port on my wall that connects to it, so I cannot duplicate your problem. Each of the families boxes has a fixed 'not routed' address.
