Log file groups or log file members? The question was about groups.

I hate HTML posts

And yes, my comments refer to groups. Groups are what are used sequentially, one after the other, and there's a log switch from the one to the other. Except you won't be able to switch if the first group is still being checkpointed.

Nothing to do with multiplexing each group so that each has multiple members

I see no point in having more than two groups

I just told you why you ought to have 3. Each with two members, of course. But three *groups*.

.
I see a lot of point in having more than two members to a group.

I don't, much. Each new member makes LGWR write several times. Slow down LGWR, and you've slowed down the system. Asynch I/O is a must if you're going to do three-way (or more) multiplexing of members
But that's a different issue: the question was about groups. So was my answer.

Or am I having an attack of syntax dyslexia?

I dunno. But posting in HTML is a RPITA.

Regards
HJR
