If it is my money I'd use Linux.

If it is my employers money and they didn't want Linux I'd suggest focusing on HP (HP/UX) and
IBM (AIX 5L). I have the same reservations Jim has expressed. Sun seems to be losing focus on
what it is they are selling and what their customer's expect.

IBM will try to gently push you toward DB2 or Informix; that's their job, but if you are focused on
Oracle and let them know you aren't interested, they sell a very decent piece of hardware with,
what I think are, the best CPUs in performance/dollars.
