Dear Group

I have a Windows 2000 server with Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 instance installed at the moment and would like to install a 2nd instance running Oracle 8.1.7.0.0.

I am a little confused with different Oracle Homes etc and would like to know the best approach to install a 2nd instance. The 2nd instance will ultimately become a develop environment so needs to be SEPERATE and on later version of Oracle so we can do further research prior to upgrading the older instance. It will then remain on the system as a development system.

Do you have any advice as to the best approach to installing a 2nd instance as described above

thanks for your help, advice and time in this matter

regards

Tony Rees
