It won't be the end of the world, but it sure can be a pain! We have 32-bit 8.1.6 for development and 64-bit 8.1.6 for production, and there have been quite a few instances when developers and DBAs blame each other for lying when it's the devilish Oracle pulling everyone's legs all the time;)
