Hello!
The Size of a datafile is dependent of
a) The FileSystem
b) The OracleServer Version

  1. Under NTFS you can store Files with 2^64 Bytes ( A lot more than 4 GB )
  2. We had Oracle 8.0.5.2.x and a datafile sized with 12GB, but we needed a fix to do that.

The Problem of very large datafiles is to handle them with the OS and the long recovery-time.
