Oh, I wasn't trying to claim that everything Java must be GUI.

I was trying to flame Oracle for trying to claim that the removal of the character terminal interface had anything to do with the rewrite to Java. If anything, Java should make it easier for their developers to seperate the user interface from the core installation functions. That's just smart programming style.

Again, one step forward two steps back -- the Oracle way.

Its a real testament to the quality of their core database that we, the customers, everyday hack-around or otherwise put up with the road blocks Oracle puts up in front us with each release. John
