Hi Everyone,

is there any (advanced :)) Oracle User that use an 8i (8.1.5) Database Server through an Firewall. The common problem is, that Oracle use a dynamicaly Port for each connection. It's not possible to use an Oracle Database via a Firewall.

Oracle speaks from the "Connection Manager". The CMAN can solve the firewall problem. I have some questions about this theme:

1.) Can I use the Connection Manager with a Oracle 7 Client. The "old" styled application in our company uses only the O-7-Client.

2.) Is there any other possibility to establish a connection over 1-(few) Ports through a firewall?

3.) Oracle Support Team told me that I can use the Registry Key "SharedPorts ..." (Sorry, I don't remember exactly). Do you have experiences with this key?

4.) Is there a example about the Configuration of the connection Manager available? My problem is very simple: 1 Oracle Server behind the firewall, 1-x Ports are static pass through and on the Client Site an Oracle 7 Client.

Thanks all for your hopefully response.
