ORA-03113

We're running Oracle7.3.3.0.0 (How to determine the right version ?) on NT4, Service Pack 4 server. After I connected as internal user to an instance with Server Manager I will startup the instance. This was done with the command:

startup nomount pfile=f:\configxxx.ora

An ORA-03113 error message appeared: end-of-file on communication channel.

I looked in the Oracle7 Server messages manual and the action to do is:

If this message occurs during a connection attempt, check the setup files for the appropriate SQL*Net driver and confirm SQL*Net software is correctly installed on the server. If the message occurs after a connection is well established, and the error is not due to a physical failure, check if a trace file was generated on the server at failure time. Existence of a trace file may suggest an Oracle internal error that requires the assistance of customer support.

Does any Oracle DBA know what this problem might occur and how to solve this problem ? Do I have to restart the OracleTNSListener service ?

TIA
