Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Oracle starts as idle?
I've just installed a copy of Oracle Workgroup server 7.3.3 on an NT 4.0
SP3 platform. I've done this numerous times before wtihout problem, but
this time I have an interesting problem.
After installation I removed the default (ORCL) instand and created a new one. According to NT services and Oracle Instance Manager this instance is set to start automatically, and it does. At least both the instance manager and NT show it as started.
But when I try to access it via SQL, I get a message that the SGA can't be found. When I use SVRMGR to connect internal, I can do that, but get a message that the database is idle. Issuing a plain START command from SVRMGR gets things going, but does anyone have any idea why the database is being started as idle? Or what I need to fix to change this?
Thanks much,
Bob
