Weird Problem connecting to 8i!!

I just installed Oracle 8i (8.1.5) for Solaris. I also istalled the 8i client (8.1.5) on NT to connect to the DB.

When I went to create the service name with NET8 Easy Config, there was a check box to indicate if the DB to connect to is 8.1 or if it is an earlier version. I checked the 8.1 box. When I tested the connection I got ORA-12154 error saying the service name couldn't be resolved. When I check the other box (for a DB 8.0 or earlier), the connection is successful. This is baffling me because I am absolutely trying to connect to Oracle 8i 8.1.5.

Any clues???
