If you have one disk, then you are covered if your file becomes corrupt,
because you have more than one copy of it. But if you lose the disk
then
you are down totally. And who knows if you can get any data off of it
period. If you lose the controller then you are down until that
controller
can be replaced. However if you have several disks and several
controllers
then you can lose some of them without much impact. You would have to
tell
OS that you want to stop mirroring and reboot. Of course you go back
down
again when you replace the disk or controller but it is definitely more
controlled that way. It is money -vs- downtime etc.
