Oracle 6 Datafiles

A DOS boot hard drive with an Oracle 6.x instance stopped working. All the data was recovered to a CD. After loading the whole filesystem to a hard drive that has been prepared and bootable with the same DOS version Oracle gives login errors and refuses to run very far. SQLDBA hasn't been much help either.

Is an end run around this problem to somehow "mount" the datafiles on another system? This is O-6 and dos, we have access to Solaris with O-7.1x,7.2x,7.3x; 8.x and NT with 8.x.

Keyword suggestions anyone?

Thanks,
