Solaris 2.6 Oracle 8.0.5 AOPS4 is a webserver running Oracle WebServer that retrieves data from an Oracle database residing on AOPS1. I set up an extra ethernet interface on each machine and gave them each private IP's of 192.168.1.1 (AOPS1) and 192.168.1.2 (AOPS4) and then put an ethernet cable directly between them. I want all oracle traffic to use the new private network and stay off the public network. this is a 100 mbit connection and I would like to think that it could dramatically speed things up. The DBA here changed the tnsnames.ora on AOPS4 (the webserver) to reflect that the database resides at the 192.168 private address, and when I snoop on that interface, some packets do periodically go over that interface, but the main thrust of the traffic goes over the public network. Do you have any idea what kind of configuration changes I need to get the traffic over the private network?
