Hi,

We have a situation here which need some advise from you guys.

First, we took a cold backup of a database from machine A and restore it on machine B. Fine no problem. Next we backup some tablespace datafiles and archive log files of database in machine A and trying to restore them in B (here creating a recovery scenario).

Second, when we restore a tablespace's datafile of database A to database B. And when we open up the database B can't cos it says one of the datafiles is newer than the control file. Ok fine, we are aware of this.

Next, we take the backup control file from macihne A and restoring in on machine B (thinking that would bring that backup control file to latest and thus able to do an incomplete recover by recovering all the archive logs). The problem we face when isuing 'recover database from control file' in machine B is:

  1. It prompts us for the next log file sequence 061
  2. But when it found 061 it is looking for 060. (060 is the first archive log)
  3. We have 060 archive log file in the correct dir, but oracle doesn't seems to be able to recognise it and thus abort the recover operation.

Have we done something wrong here?
