Very similiar. Almost identical. As far as SQL, PL/SQL, and the various utilities (export, import, SQL*Loader) go, there are no differences at all. Most of the database administration side is identical as well.

Here are some differences that I've personally run into:

  1. I've never been able to successfully issue the RECOVER command against a Personal Oracle database, even though I can run it in archive log mode. Don't know why that is.
  2. None of the Enterprise options are available for Personal Oracle. You don't get object types, for example.
  3. SQL*Plus for Personal Oracle can be used against non Personal Oracle Oracle databases, but the reverse is not true.
  4. I've never tried it, but I assume that Parrellel server is not an option with Personal Oracle.
  5. Personal Oracle has no listener.

Yes. However, if you have an NT machine at home, you might consider ordering an eval copy of Oracle for NT.
