Do you have the getadmin (spelling?) fix installed? Microsoft has a bug in their Java engine that will cause the Net8 window (and others) to not show up and, in task manager, you will see java.exe running. You sound like that may be what is happening to you. Try setting your screen resolution down to 16 colors (this sometimes helps for some strange reason). If you need the getadmin fix, search www.microsoft.com and their support pages.
