Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> ORA-07307 on SUN IPC with 2.6
Hi All,
I've got a question about installing oracle 7.3.3 on a SUN IPC with Solaris 2.6 and 36 Megs of Memory. I've got everything set the way the installation manual says. I've set the parameters in the system file correctly, etc... I go ahead and run orainst, go thru all the prompts and after a while I get an error message fromt the installer saying the installation failed during database creation. If I look at the log it points me to a .lst file which has the following error:
Connected to an idle instance.
ORA-07307: sms1sg: shmat error, unable to attach sga.
SVR4 Error: 22: Invalid argument
Additional information: 1
create database "kcisun1_oracle"
*
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
Disconnected.
I've installed ORACLE on a bunch of different machines before and never had any problems like this. My guess is that there just isn't enough memory on the machine. The installation manual says it needs 32MB minimum but that doesn't seem to be true. Any one have any thoughts
Thanks in advance.
