The winsock2 problem with O8 clients is fixed with a patch downloadable from support. Call support and get the thing. There is otherwise no compatibility problem with O8 and any win32 client.

For Win95 databases, Oracle8 Personal Edition is available, which is really the whole Oracle server product, but without the object option. Or, check out Personal Oracle Lite, which is a distinctly different product- small footprint, java stored procedure support, objects, etc.
