Decrease timeout for deadlock

Hello everybody

We have several deadlocks on our application (Forms 4.5 - Oracle 7.3.4. on AIX 4.2)

Does exist a parameter or something else to decrease the timeout when the deadlock occurs ?
Actually the users are waiting between 1 or 2mn between the beginning of the lock
and the error message. It's too much for the users and they prefer reboot rather to wait
1 or 2 mn to have the error message.
Can parameter "distributed_deadlock_timeout" resolve our problem ?? Or is this parameter only available for distributed transactions (what I suppose) and
so does Oracle provide another parameter for lock timeout with local transaction ??

Thanks in advance, it's very urgent for us to solve this problem (without re-writing our application in first time)

Regards
