I'm not extremely familiar with Informix, but from what I do know, I think you'll be fairly disappointed with Oracle8. Oracle8.0 has more bugs than I've ever seen in a commercial product. You'll lose lots of advanced index types and very flexible table and index partitioning by going from Informix to Oracle8. I don't know how "buggy" Informix tends to be or how much use PeopleSoft makes of these features, but I would suggest carefully considering this decision, pulling Oracle bug reports, maybe even wait until patch releases 8.0.5.x.x or greater.
