Possibly, however why it's 'slow' is a function of any number of things. What we need to accurately diagnose the 'problem' is:

Oracle version
State of statistics
Code used for the update
Explain plan for this code
Statspack information during a run of this code

You can't expect your mechanic to diagnose a problem with your car based upon irrelevant information such as the color and the body style. This is, effectively, what you've supplied in this post: essentially irrelevant 'information' and a statement that the update is 'slow'.

If you want an answer then provide that which is requested (see the list above). If you can't be bothered to supply such details then this isn't a pressing problem for you to address.

And biting the hand which you expect to feed you is irresponsible and foolish. Especially when you're asking after a topic and a methodology with which you're apparently unfamiliar.
