Re-hire contractor API in Oracle HRMS

There is a re_hire_ex_employee, which fairly specifically re-hires an
ex-employee as a current employee, but what about re-hiring
ex-contractors, or taking on an ex-employee as a contractor? How do we
do this in a data migration that need to load the history of a person's
periods of service?
