There are three options:

  1. Tell you client that your application is certified on a higher version. If they want to use your application, they will upgrade.
  2. Code a workaround in your application to get around this problem.
  3. Code the app as is and it will work in some versions and not in others.

Option 3 should be avoided at all costs. And in my opinion, Option 2 is not as desirable as Option 1.
