As Brian mentioned, Oracle Spatial is one place where shape can be referenced.
As such it no specific meaning in oracle world.

Even in a database world there can be a context. Your question seems as vague as someone asking what does space mean in db world. It could be space in a table or it could be a literal space ...
depends on the context you are asking the question.

In short, shape has no specifc definition in the oracle world.
