Are you using Oracle Apps or Portal? The answer to the former would be search metalink for the cloning faq, the latter search metalink and the docs for how to transport portal (not transportable tablespaces). Also poke around for advice on your particular components.
For anything else you are on your own, you could try the changes if you are very up on dealing with errors in the various log files and real sure about all ports used, and very sure about where you've installed what. I had poor results with the documented ways of handling "customer databases" and such, but that was a couple of years ago, perhaps the support has gotten better. I would do a fresh install, but I'm not real up on it all anymore, so take a lot of salt with my AS advice.
