Enterprise Linux is the 'Family' of products. In particular, Oracle's Certify indicates that App Server 10.1.2.0.[0-2] are certified with Red Hat Enterprise AS/ES 4 only, not WS.
I assume you are using everything at the x86 level, and you are not forgetting to tell us about some 64 bit something-or-other somewhere.
Since you have access to Metalink, you might consider opening a Service Request so everyone can benefit from the effort of resolving your problem.
Last few times I saw something similar, it turned out to be enviromental - having the wrong gcc or the wrong glibc in place, or having Java bin or CLASSPATH set for other purposes, resulting in a collision. Usually traced to my not reading the install procedure carefully.
