The numbers do speak one thing in the job market, but his decision should really depends on his own goal
and interest. If he is into DB2 and willing to pick up sql and pl/sql, job numbers don't really matter as an external reason.

I graduated just 2 years ago, and my little advice to Dibur is, think carefully before you change. I believe you must have excellent grades to get campus recruited by IBM, which almost every computer science graduate wants to get in, but not everyone is lucky and good enough. so first try to improve your job by picking up the skills you need at your own time(schools are over, no more fulltime teachers on the job!). if it doesn't work for urself, then considere change *internally* first, i.e. within ur department, company. the last thing to think is to get out of the company.
