You miss the point. The regulars are the one who can assist you in what you want to accomplish. If you refuse to fit into to the community, you will have limited success interacting with that community, regardless of whether it is on the internet or in a town or city.
Sure there are many who pass by for gas and directions, just like any small town. Those who are just passing through are unlikely to stop and chat. So if you want good directions from those who site around in their rocking chairs, it behooves you to ask polite-like. Those who are sitting in rocking chairs might be kindly enough to offer a cup of coffee, or they might reach for their shotguns that they've got leanin' on the wall over thar, dependin'on who you swagger over to ask the question.
