Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> cable modem and ORA-12514
Hi,
I have a rather strange question:
About e month ago (before i had a cable modem connected to my PC), my Oracle Personal Edition 8.1.6 was working just fine. (Windosw XP Pro). But since i connected the modem (and established a network), all i get is this damn ORA-12514 message when i try to connect. I have checked my tnsnames.ora, successfully 'pinged' my PC, successfully 'tnspinged' my ORADB1 database, but that's all i can do. I know my computers name has changed from 'XPMARTIJN' to 'cp305358-a' since i installed the cable modem. When i try to add a service with the Net8 connection assistant, i am not allowed to create one with the name 'ORADB1.cp305358-a' (invalid name), but i am allowed to create one with the name ORADB1.XPMARTIJN.
When i checked the status of my Oracle services (3), i found that two of them were started, and one was starting.
Could this be my problem? Does anyone have got any idea? I'm sorry to bother you all with yet another ora-12514 problem, but i haven't got a clue.
