I recall a previous post about slow oracle performance on a 10MB/s
network, the reason was the network. How many people are connecting to
this? The other post said the database got slow as more people
connected, I don't recall the formula given for bandwidth per user, but
there was one. Just looking at the formula, the reason for the slow
performance was very obvious...just the numbers showed a slow
performance very clearly.
My point is, I'd take a look at the network.... Also, what steps have you done for documenting/measuring/benchmarking this setup? What performance stats do you have? Do you have any? If you had done the basics of measuring the performance, you'd have a better idea of where your bottle-neck is occurring. It's funny, they tell you in college to document and benchmark all your work....but I've yet to go to a site where they have accurately documented and benchmarked their IT setup! It's a mad world out there!
