Thanks for the taking the time to comment. I'm in my final year of a degree, we've covered databases to a certain extent, but to be honest it's just been a primer. Ive worked with Access, VB and ASP front ends but i'm working on an Oracle assignment now. Ive also had some exposure to PLSQL but not the theory behind a dbms, so had to look up what a tablespace was the other day. My theory is severely lacking.

I took a quick look at the concept guides at Oracle and nearly died, there's about two weeks solid reading there - just don't have the time. But I really could do with some sort of 'bluffers guide' that would give me the outline of the issues. I don't suppose you might know of one?

I am actually thinking of heading in a database/business problem solving direction, but my course is pretty diverse; one minute RIP and ARP the next X-Windows with QT, so I'm doing a certain amount of juggling.
