I've got a book on 8i, which I've used to get to grips with 9i. I didn't notice any problems specifically related to 8i information at my Oracle newbie level. The Oracle experts will probably howl me down, but 9i seems remarkably similar to 8i at a plain SQL/Admin/engine level if your main interest is transaction processing. I can't speak for other types of usage.
