I got Oracle 8.1.6 work on Linux (Mandrake 7.1) after a few days. It still crashes
(at least Java tools).

Then I tried DB2 :

(maybe this is what IBM calls "we support 100% Linux" ?).

My opinion here is that oracle did not complete the work : the setting up of Oracle 8i on linux
is really painful (just look at the complexity of the install docs), and isn't worth because of its numerous bugs. Received on Thu Aug 24 2000 - 02:20:57 CDT
