Excellent, Mr. Putin! You provided valuable information to me, so this place is not entirely useless, although a lot of culling of the posts is required. Thats what search routines are good for. I did finally get the local 8i database exposed to Interdev and get data to display on the screen, but your additional information will put me on a better footing. I was confused about the Listener start. Nowhere in the documentation did Oracle cover the Listener startup and I couldn't find any reference in the manuals that I had. Worst stuff since IBM manuals! I never had this much trouble with DB2.
