Is it me...or is Oracle 8i IMPOSSIBLE to install on a vanilla RH6.0 server install? I'm using the free Oracle 8i for Red Hat Linux CD-Rom.

I've tried everything that I've been able to find in various USENET groups about various wrinkles which need to be set up prior to and during the

install................and the product simply
will not get cleanly to the end of the install process.

No other software product I've ever tried has has been even remotely so frustrating. Does anyone out there have a detailed script (for a person!) to follow to get this product completely installed?

...or maybe if it's this hard to get started, it's not worth the effort.

Sean
