Hi Eric

It depends what you try to do. If this two databases should share the same datafiles (*.dbf files) then it would be something like a paralell server (but to my knowledge the two instances should run on different servers.)
If the two databases are independet with own datafiles then this are two different databases or aka two instances.

How to set up, see the Oracle7 Sever Administrator Guide starting at page 2-4. This should guide you trough the process.
