ODBC 2.5.3.1.0 with VB5 Failing

Hi:

Is anyone running VB5 on NT through the above ODBC driver with SQL/Net 2.3.3 to Oracle 7.3.3.5 on UNIX (AIX) ?
Apps which ran under ODBC 2.0.3.1 either fail before connecting or hang after making the connection. MSQuery and tables attached through MSAccess work fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
