Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> Re: The NC: does it stand a chance in hell??
I've worked with PCs for over 10 years now and am waiting for the day the NC is available... as I am planning to buy one.
The last thing I want to do is spend time configuring a machine at home... as if I do not get more than my fill of that at work. All I want to do at home is to browse the web, use a word processor and a spreadsheet every now and then, do some accounting, etc. All this could easily be done with a NC.
Any survey on NC currently is useless... it's hard for people to imagine the advantages of a new product. I'll bet, most of the same IS Manager's will go running after the product when they see its ease and low cost of maintenance... configuring/installing hardware/software on 1000 PCs is no joke.
But, don't get me wrong... I still like the PCs for it's power, flexibility and would like to use it at work (I work in the software world). But when I get home, I would like to get out of the software-developer mode and get into the simple user mode...
