Oracle 7.2.3 suddenly excessive cache buffer misses???

Platform AIX 4.1.4 Oracle 7.2.3


Suddenly any decent sized query thrashes the disks and drives the system 
to 100% utilization!!! and doesn't return. At the same time regular 
transtions run fine. Any Ideas???


P.S. No changes have been made to the initialization parameters and 
database has been stable for 1.5 years
