Go to the control panel:system.  Click on tasking.  Select "foreground and
background equally responsive".



Remember - you have 1 processor running  Windows inside of a VDM and NT.



Named Pipes is fast because it uses NetBeui as a transport which is NT's
native internal protocol (kind of like IPC on a unix box).
