Internal Oracle RHEL DB Servers - Is Firewall Enabled a Best Practice?

I'm setting up a couple of new internal Oracle RHEL DB servers and the SysAdmin wants to enable the built-in firewall.

I'm setting up a couple of new internal Oracle RHEL DB servers and the SysAdmin wants to enable the built-in firewall.
I've never seen this on an internal DB server before but thought I'd ask here in case it is recommended or a new (or even old) best practice.
