Interesting that in most places I've seen it was used like this:
 
 
E.g. with UTC or another abbreviation. So yeah, some work, some don't. So I suppose using the names is the better approach if using it programmatically.

I have found that some abbreviations work, but not all. The docs mention that if you need daylight savings etc, then the names must be used. The working abbreviations won't give correct results.
